Stanton Moore is the drummer for New Orleans-based funk band Galactic. He has also released several solo albums and plays with the group Garage a Trois. Moore has also appeared on recordings by Corrosion of Conformity, Irma Thomas, Robert Walter, Tom Morello and Boots Riley, Will Bernard, Diane Birch, Alec Ounsworth, and Joss Stone, and perfomed with John Scofield, Karl Denson, George Porter, Jr. and Leo No- centelli (of the Meters), Charlie Hunter, Warren Haynes, John Medeski and Chris Wood (of Medeski, Martin and Wood), Donald Harrison Jr., Dr. Lonnie Smith, Dr. John, Tab Benoit, Robert Walter, the New Orleans Klezmer All-Stars, and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, to name a few.

Nice Stanton. If u were Jamaican people would say ur awesome but your just a straight edge white dude so people are gonna say ah that's not how it's done u don't know what your doing. However it sounded pretty fuckin awesome to me.

bunch of haters. He's not claiming to be a master reggae drummer. he is just teaching some basic guidelines. I play some reggae sometimes and it is not totally accurate but I get better. Does that mean I am going to stop playing it because some people might say, "that's not real reggae!" "You can't play reggae cause you're a white boy." Fuck that shit!

I get what you're saying, but you and Stanton are saying the same exact thing, just differently. The guy talking about half-time feel is just making the point that how you choose to subdivide the rhythm is up to you. My guitarist thinks he's playing twice as fast as me because he interprets 8th notes as if they were quarters. He's not "wrong", per se, because if he thinks he's playing 140 BPM and I'm playing 70, we're still in time with each other, I'm just holding down the actual groove.

And yes u can write anything anywayvu want and accent any beat u want. Ur band can play 5/4 while u groove 4/4 and it'll work out and have a nice pull to it

I am saying that cuz I the drummer, go to burning spears live video from 2009 to 2012 and you will see me playing,after all if I did'nt know how to play or count the music,burning spear would'nt hire me........food for thought.

People,please understand that ,the name "One drop",is cuz the kick and snare plays together and YES its ALWAYS on the 2 and 4,no such thing as it being on 3 or 1,......4/4 count is the same every where......Maybe I need to do a video.

Sorry, but there's missing some groove and hearts. To groove Music like Reggae, you have to really mean it - every single one drop! Same goes to the offbeat - that's why there's just a handfull groovy Reggae Bands!
