Here's a fantastic clip of Stanley Jordan playing Eleanor Rigby live on the Jools Holland show. It's out of sync until it can be fixed but is still a must see.

"all he is using is blues scales"Incorrect.  He's using all the modes, playing chromatically, using arpeggios, chord/scale substitutions, et cetera.  He's doing so much more than merely playing blues scales.

Strings are set very low and I think he uses open tunings too and clearly echo a lot of times.

He should just play the piano already. LOL I would actually prefer to hear him play standard.

I think that this is the actual true story of Stanley Jordan. He is a child of divorced parents ,and with the parent who he lived with couldn't afford to buy him a piano.

That's somewhat reassuring. I guess mainstream recognition's not all that great anyway, considering the artists that get mainstream recognition these days. But at least he's got a good, intelligent following.

He was actually quite popular about 25 or so years ago. And by those who know music he is considered one of the greatest.

I'm sure everyone realizes that. I'm sure what he meant is that it could be tighter. It's pretty sloppy at times, and the melody gets drowned out by the rhythm parts.

He's playing a bunch of parts. Lead and rhythm. One man band on one guitar. So no, that's not just noise, it's multiple parts.

Right, I mean, maybe I'm really dumb, but is it not what Van Halen popularized? Although Stanley also does it on two guitar necks simultaneously, where, like above commentator says, it's piano like. No??
