So rare to get an extended trombone solo, its funny, trumpet is usually so in your face, but always the featured solos, tuba so low (or whatever), the horns too mellow, then a bone solo, heads turn (even in the band), surprise that it is so enjoyable...since usually it is earplugs to stop the bass brass wave...hah...maybe trombone is the most musical after all...got to love Stan Kenton Band. Just face the facts, and the truth about Kenton. He changed jazz forever, and in a dramatic way. There was no other bandleader who took jazz by the scruff of the neck and made it grow up quite in the manner of that great and visionary man.
