This album has five selections from two separate jam sessions in 1947. Stan Getz is only on three of the numbers, teamed up with altoist Willie Smith, trumpeter Charlie Shavers and vibraphonist Red Norvo for "How High the Moon," "I Got Rhythm" and "Body and Soul."

I bought many Crown Records (including this one) at Ralph's Supermarket on Woodman Ave., Van Nuys, Ca. in the early 1960s. They cost $0.88 each. They were 12 inch Lps and well made. They did not include much information though.10 years ago

Charlie Shavers is my favorite jazz trumpeter of the jazz age. No one brings such soul & combines it with more drive than the Indy 500! Itunes has a very nice Shavers song list - at least 250 when I last checked.12 years ago
