This band was so heavily under rated & under appreciated. Their music is poetry but idiots these day's can't appreciate it because they lack the intellect to understand the words much less the ability to maintain any attention span to listen closely to it. If it's not some pre packaged shit like they have now. They have no interest in it. That & it was uploaded on My birthday ! So that's a plus ! :D

I heard Stabbing Westward for first time in 1998 with the "Darkest Days" CD and got hooked because they reached to some thing lurking in me. welcome to the Abyss!

Do people really talk about that shit still? While it's correct that Hey Man Nice Shot is derivative of that in its final form, there's a couple things to take into consideration:Richard wrote that guitar riff in its entirety, yes, however the song was originally not written for Filter.Hey Man Nice Shot was written in 1991. Filter was formed in 1993. The subject was brought up regarding the song appearing on whatever would come next, with kind of "eh" feelings from Trent and apparently some issues with potential labels. As he became aware that the band was essentially session musicians and that Trent maintained all creative control other than what he asked for himself of others, he split (presumably on good terms, although I'm pretty sure "you left me here, I'm all alone, my little piggy needed something new" is a tongue in cheek reference to Richard) and formed Filter. Ironically, Richard ran Filter in the exact same way regarding creative control, at least for quite some time. The riff was later then changed up a little bit to fit the new style of the track's base (which would have been different than NIN at the time, if Richard was allowed more control and his song produced for Broken and not for Short Bus). The version you hear on this track is likely a rendition of the first one written, period. There was no "ripping off". Everyone was aware and nobody cared.

I remember listening to the song the day after Sandy hit. It was a depressing day. My house was partially destroyed. The entire town was flooded and I recall seeing boats and other debris floating in front of what was left of my house. Scary stuff. Thank god for this song and Stabbing Westward.

It's funny how everyone thinks Filter ripped this band off, yet Richard Patrick is the one who wrote this riff back in 1991 and Stu W was there when it happened too. He wanted to add to it but Richard insisted on keeping it the way he originally came up with. Eventually Stu left Filter, joined Stabbing Westward, Richard added new rhythm parts to his old riff, and thus, "Hey Man Nice Shot" was born.
