Charles Brown's "Please Come Home for Christmas" has always been the standard bearer for me; no season is complete without hearing it. Those bells get me every time. But then I heard this. The instrumental track, not to mention Katharine Whalen's achingly beautiful vocal performance, is a lesson in restrained elegance. The emotion of this song seems almost too much to contain, as if it's ready to burst its musical confines. But it stays just above a whisper. Powerful, powerful stuff.

i dunno if its 12 bar....i used to play bass and i dont remember learning 12 bar this way. It could very well be...def does have a bluesy sound to it.
