*FOR YOUR LISTENING ENJOYMENT ONLY*

What is the openVAULT you ask? It's quite simple. Music that for lack of a better analogy, has been locked away from the general public. What has happened to the musical landscape is sickening. Far too many artists go largely unnoticed. We are here to change that. To drive the point home, this will not be some "best of" list aka Rolling Stone. No "Stairway", no "Walrus", just music that should be heard. Here at openVAULT you're going to be forced off the beaten path more often than not.

It'll be good for you, trust us.

Every song you will hear is from our private collection, so please NO copying, downloading or reproducing these videos in any form for this is strictly prohibited. You know as in illegal, a no-no. As stated before these tunes are FOR YOUR LISTENING ENJOYMENT ONLY! We won't sell, trade, or give up any mp3s, so if you're here for that purpose please step aside, you're blocking the view of others.

This band had a kooky image but solid musicianship to say the least. Weird clothes and 80's hair and make-up was just a gimmick to make someone who didn't know have a closer look and then out of nowhere whammo!!! There's a full on assault of fast hard rock music and completely original melodies... I love these guys, they're brilliant!!

It says 'ENZ'. And my (UK) vinyl cover was mainly yellow, so there are variants

Loving Split Enz, it's like finding a trove of treasure that I walked past each day without noticing.

@markblyn The Beatles deserved every single handclap/scream that was given them. Split Enz would fully agree. And yes, True Colours is a perfect pop album.

Yes, better than a lot of the Beatles stuff - the most over-applauded band in history. A perfect pop album.

The opening guitar is SO Alex Lifeson-ish... It's cool! It's got that muscular tone to it!!!

Bought this album when it came out in UK...boy they looked surreal ...it takes a lot of courage to look that weird.....saw them on "Sight & Sound in concert" and when they did "Charley" I was mesmerised......listening to this song again tonight, I can hear shades of "Paperback Writer" especially in the fade out period. I am a huge fan of the Finn brothers....

The best album of 1980 bar none. Better than the Beatles in many respects on this album and the almost 'but not quite' as brilliant follow-up 'Time and Tide'. Completely unique cool air echoey, take a trip up the motorway with the window open feel to this album. Fantastic Squeeze/Beatles hybrid songwriting. Crystal clear vocals, a story for each song and unbelievably brilliant production. This is one of those records that makes me wonder why I have so many albums in my collection.
