Split Enz was always ahead of the curve. Massively under-appreciated in the western world :-(

My best friend and I used to sing this song about the bullies who tortured us.

I love the layers of this song. The grandiosity with the everyday lamentable lyrics. The piano is like honey driving this with the tasty synth and orchestration building drama. Tim Finn's falsetto just breaks your heart. I love me some Split Enz!

this tune is an amalgam of opera classics, the most obvious is Pagliacci.

The #1 Irish Tenor voice, singing the #1 song, about the #1 reason why Irish men drink. Performed by a NZ band called Split Enz which includes the brothers with fine Irish names, Neil and Timothy Finn. How they ended up in NZ, probably has to do with the #2 reason why Irish men drink!B^ )

Man my Dad always loved this one, I always find it too sad, all depressing and stuff but still a hood song.

I think Tim wrote this, a song of love and unrequited love, quite exact as to the emotion's one feel's when that illness love grip's one.
