Special Ed is the performing name of Edward Archer (born May 16, 1973 in Brooklyn, New York), an American hip hop musician of Jamaican descent. Hailing from Brooklyn in New York City, he was raised in Flatbush before moving to Canarsie, and is identified with East Coast hip hop. Ed is best known for the songs "I Got It Made" and "I'm The Magnificent", produced by "Hitman" Howie Tee and released in 1989 on the Youngest in Charge album, recorded when Ed was 16 years old. The album sold more than half a million copies. In 1990, he released his album Legal, the title a reference to his turning eighteen, with the singles "Come On Let's Move It and "The Mission".

He was later a member of Crooklyn Dodgers, an ad hoc group who came together to perform for the Spike Lee films Clockers and Crooklyn, and he performed "Crooklyn" with Shillz on the 2003 compilation album MuskaBeatz. Ed released a third solo album, Revelations, with the single "Neva Go Back" in 1995, with the track "Freaky Flow" receiving a remix by DJ Premier. In 2004, Ed released the album Still Got It Made on his own label "Semi."

This is kind of the time when nas was really hot and Jay -Z was on the come up.Big and Pac was something so special you would have to sit down and have a talk about them on how really dope the game was.Because in all honesty Big and Pa c kinda saved the rap game around that time,It even spilled over into politics. The West Coast also deserve alot of props for keeping away where you could make money in the game,to me I believe niggas from the West Coast made money in rap big around that time,Master P who is from my city had made it in the game up there, there's like a sort of moral code that southern blacks adapt to because the California and the rest of the mid west have like on some old school nigga shit, yall say niggas down south crazy, even niggas from sides where they have gangs niggas down south roll in clicks it's kinda a different thing,it's like every man for themselves and me and my friends I grew up with from round the corner type shit,New OrLEANS

When this song first came out, everyone in my high school was like "what the hell is Ed thinking with that wack ass song?" but I secretly liked it. He was trying to branch off into something different and people just didn't get it.
