It's right that he uses mostly the same patterns both regarding sweeps and in general, his lines though are much more 'epic' of sort, they build up hights and downs, are clearly composed, while Sop's solos have a much more improvised character. Generally Sop have more sophisticated compositions in terms of imitation and polyphony, but Necrophagist have some real killer earworm moments, especially considering rythmic figures

Hell no...I love Necrophagist but Muhammad's soloing is hardly the highlight of his playing to me...I can only handle so many diminished sweeps, haha. SoP's are much more interesting.
