Was just listening to this on Dublin radio, my mother is a native of Kilkenny. And I say that this music really been growing on me. :3

This song may date from sometime during the potato famine, which happened in Ireland between 1845 to 1852, when a lot of people emigrated mostly to America. There is a clue in the ending words when he sings, "I awoke in California, may miles from Spancil Hill."
