Love the riff around 1:20. Sounds like hittin open strings followed by some strange harmonic progression

It flagrantly borrows from Heart's "Love Alive," but I'm sure the Wilson sisters approve!

This is one of those songs that will magically appear in your head out of nowhere, even if you haven't listened to it in a long time. Then you'll NEED to hear it.

I think the thing that groups all these bands together is that you can hear the same influences in all their music. The band members are my age and we grew up listening to early metal (Sabbath, Zep), punk, psychedelic, and a lot of blues influenced stuff...

So true. This is what makes Grunge so damn good.

I think Nirvana is singled out b/c they had Cobain & he pretty much changed rock music, even though Soundgarden formed in '84 & their first recorded songs were on a comp album called Deep Six (the only band our of the Big 4 of the Grunge Era to have any on there). It does bother me that Nirvana's singled out b/c the other 3 were just as good as Nirvana.

I think they're all different. I don't know why Nirvana is singled out all the time. Pearl Jam sounds nothing like AiC, who sounds nothing like Soundgarden. Yeah, AiC and Soundgarden are both heavy, but their styles, direction, and just overall moods are completely different. You'd be hard-pressed to find two "grunge" bands that actually sound like they belong in the same genre. Soundgarden, Nirvana, etc. started off similarly, but progressed in their own ways, as did other bands.

I, for one, understand. I don't care for Nirvana myself. To me Nirvana were as foreign to Seattle grunge as San Diego grunge is from Seattle. If you know what I mean. If you've ever actually been in a band you know that such discernments don't concern you. :You just wanna rock. Or roll. Or whatever the fuck.
