Gonna go out on a limb here, but it probably has to do with the fact that he's from the U.S., where the dominant religion/culture is Christian. Doesn't make a lot of sense to rock against a religion that doesn't exert influence over you. I wouldn't read to much into it if I was you.

The other thing that jumps out at me is how COOL it is for rock bands to trash Christians and Christianity. I guess familiarity breeds contempt as they say. And this same band wouldn't even think of trashing Islam or Mohammed. That would not be permitted. It would be disrespectful, sacreligious. But if it's Christianity then anything goes. Islam is full of hypocrites too Chris Cornell. They might not care if you find God though or get "saved".

I just discovered this song yesterday, or that was my first exploration of the song. What gets me on this video is Ben Shepherd on bass. That guys arms look like they go on forever. How can he play the bass so low?

This was one of the great concerts of all time . . . Pearl Jam, SoundGarden, and a lot of people forget that the Cult did an amazing set!! Wish I was there.
