"Sookie, Sookie" - Don Covay (1965) Popcorn classic!

B-side of "Mercy, Mercy"

Album: "See-Saw" (1966)

"Mercy, Mercy" was his first single (with a young Jimi Hendrix on guitar). The B-side "Sookie, Sookie" became a classic!

Don Covay also wrote "Chain Of Fools" which was, like "See-Saw", a big hit for Aretha Franklin.

The original B side of Mercy Mercy (1964) was Can't Stay Away. The Mercy Mercy/Sookie Sookie coupling was a UK 1966 release. In the US, Atlantic 2323 - Sookie Sookie / Watching The Late Late Show was released in 1966.
