Hear my song as I ride along

I'm just a happy rovin' cowboy

Herdin' the dark clouds out of the sky

Keepin' the heavens blue.

Nowhere to go, nothing to do

I'm a happy roving cowboy

Let me ride that long trail down to the end

where the skies are always blue.

Hear my song as I ride along

I'm just a happy rovin' cowboy

Herdin' the dark clouds out of the sky

Keepin' the heavens blue.

I ain't got a wife to bother my life

I'm a happy rovin' cowboy

Let me make my bed where the varmints prowl

Beneath the sky of blue.

Hear my song as I ride along

I'm just a happy rovin' cowboy

Herdin' the dark clouds out of the sky

Keepin' the heavens blue.

I aint got a dime; I'm just spendin' my time

I'm a happy rovin' cowboy

Let me sing my song till they call me home

to the land beyond the blue.

Hear my song as I ride along

I'm a happy rovin' cowboy

Herdin' the dark clouds out of the sky

Keepin' the heavens blue

Hear my song as I ride along

I'm a happy rovin' cowboy

Herdin' the dark clouds out of the sky

Keepin' the heavens blue

I totally agree with you. Most of all I admire how they recorded several versions of "Whispering Wind".

This particular recording was done in 1935, when Roy Rogers was still in the group. The young voice in the verses is Roy Rogers. It was recorded several times, like most pioneers songs. They pretty much had a different singer each time they recorded it. Bob sang it on the earliest recording in 1934, Tim Spencer sang lead on the faster 1942 version. Love that they always performed songs different each time.

@kopicafe1 Bob Nolan was one of the founding members of the Sons of The Pioneers along wth Roy Rogers in 1933, and he was the lead singer of the group for many years. Bob Nolan also wrote 'Cool Water' and 'Tumbling Tumbleweeds' plus many other cowboy and country songs

Some of you will recall Hank Williams used this as his theme song.

I do know that this was sung in one of Roy Rogers's early 40's movies. It's a lovely tune! Thanks for the upload!
