I played for a couple hours and then they were going to be the Late set band. I played my version of Mr Bojangles and Got a Standing Ovation that lasted 3 minutes!! The Mgr of Soney and Brownie grabbed my arm when I got offstage and told me "DOnt you know you arent suppused to Out Play the Headliner! I told him when He was paying me, Id do what he wanted, but till then I play for my Audiance, not yours!! the Gin put me up in a motel. 3meals a day, for a month!! Loved The Gin, but its gone now!

in the early 80's I was playing a club in Oxford MS called "The Gin" Sonny still had a little Sight but not to drive, Now Sonny and Brownie hadnt spoken to each other in years, They spoke at each other. Sonny had a young white guy that drove his Cadillac (Brownie had a matching Cadillac) The young guy was learning to play the harmonica from Sonny. The Old Miss Football team was in full attendance, They were the best crowd Id had in a long time at that time.
