Whenever I see this band play live, I feel like I can do it too. I'm sure they've learned a lot, including improvisation, but these guys give me the courage to explore the freedom of music and guitars. I guess that's what punk is all about, getting and giving the will to express. Sophisticated but very wild.

I listen to just about every music style and have been playing guitar for 20 years and at the end of the day I still have to say Sonic Youth has given me more inspiration and enjoyment than any other band. Their song structures and guitar techniques always give me something to think about. Too bad they broke up.. I loved sitting down with a new SY record and hearing how they would constantly evolve, but never lose their feel.
