So amazing live. For those who didn't get a chance to see him, and his band mind you; cause he played with really nice cats, it would be hard to explain the raw energy, power and soul in his performance.

He started out on drums. He also played for Koko Taylor and of course Hound Dog on guitar but would also often be their session bassist and also sometimes their session drummer. It's crazy, if you dig around you'll see he comes up all over the place on album credits. Alligator mainly, but that goes without saying. I think he could get around on some horns as well. He was like a rough and raw Johnny Guitar Watson; a multi-instrument talent...without Johnny's hot pants and pimp hat.

Albert King, Son Seals and Michael Burks. Yeah, that's a hell of a list. All passed before their time. Man; Michael dying was sad, so much great stuff he'd recorded and played live but still so much potential.

Where did you find that DVD? His guitar lesson DVD from hall leonard is out of print and took me months to track down online.

First time I saw Son was late 70's @ Chicagofest. He opened for Muddy Waters, but Mud was in the hospital and couldn't make it so Son played about 4 hours. He completely blew away everyone there. It was a SRO show and I was dead f'ing center with my elbows on stage. I'll never forget it...obviously. A great loss to the blues....some trivia...he played DRUMS on the classic Albert King LP - Live Wire/Blues Power.
