to me, this sounds like a cry for help from someone suffering from some sort of addiction that they haven't been able to let go of, God is there to help the one who wants to help their self.

I see all these wonderful, willful commenters talking about their addiction(s)…and I'll admit this is powerful stuff. But it's not why I'm listening to this song.I'm not sure if I'm the only one here…probably. My girlfriend broke up with me two months ago on the grounds that our relationship never glorified God, that it was Satan's will that we were ever together, and that I'm a danger to society with destruction in my wake…needless to say I was devestated for a majority of the last two months. I looked everything over…everything we ever did and ever said. Nothing she said is true. And now she's gone back to her life of spiritual inactivity because of lies. This song gives me the feels because it's what we're feeling right now. I'm hoping and praying that she foremost regains her faith, and if possible comes back to me, and things look bleak at times. And every time I try to numb the pain with worldly things I fall off the pedestal of pleasure and remember that she needs help and prayer. And for her (if what I know of her still holds true), she's trying to find things that make her happy without God and is failing. She's (likely) turned to her old ways of pleasure and is struggling to find joy that lasts. Needless to say…something's gotta change. If she's ever to regain her faith, if we're ever to come back together, and if not then if I'm ever to let go and remember that I can be loved, love others, and bring life to the world just as I did with her.If it's not too much trouble…and reading this ramble had probably been enough as is so if you're still reading then I'm going to presume my request isn't too much……please…pray for Peter and Lexxi…we need it…

Your stupid religion is so hypocritical, people help themselves not God and if people can help themselves what role does God play in it. Nothing

Why ruin a beautiful song by making it about some imaginary man called God and bringing out all the idiots -.- ffs keep your opinions/beliefs to yourself and don't push your fairy tales on others

Yes, Jesus Your love goes first before anything and that's the main priority and nothing shall separate from your greatness that lingers me at the feet of your name. You are the anchor to my soul, You are the way to the road of redemption.

I've never heard this before, but the song seems to be someone calling out from a deep depression and is looking for something to get them out of it and, ultimately, crying out to God for help.

“Aren't you, like me, hoping that some person, thing, or event will come along to give you that final feeling of inner well-being you desire? Don't you often hope: 'May this book, idea, course, trip, job, country or relationship fulfill my deepest desire.' But as long as you are waiting for that mysterious moment you will go on running helter-skelter, always anxious and restless, always lustful and angry, never fully satisfied. You know that this is the compulsiveness that keeps us going and busy, but at the same time makes us wonder whether we are getting anywhere in the long run. This is the way to spiritual exhaustion and burn-out. This is the way to spiritual death.” ― Henri J.M. Nouwen, Life of the Beloved: Spiritual Living in a Secular World

Not only addiction but pride as well. We continually take except bad things in our lives because we dont want to give up. That can get a poison as well. I have worked for a job that has done nothing but degrade me, insult me, manipulate me, and take advantage of me. I refused to leave because of my pride. How Josh expresses himself on here relates to how i feel as well. A poison i keep taking in and I dont need to. No one should have to. Not in a job, relationship, or any part of their life should they have to take any kind of mental or physical abuse. It just all depends on the person; I personally can relate to my life in general.

What a wonderful and powerful song that ministers to the heart. I was bound by alcohol for 18 years and God set me free through the 12 Steps and a wonderful new relationship with Him. he is the one who does for me what I could not do on my own!
