Absolutely spectacular song/composition...with equally spectacular producing.Mr Woolfson and Mr Parsons hit the bull's-eye here with electing to use both vocalists (Peter Straker on the verses and Jaki Whitren on the choruses) for this composition's final mix.There is absolutely no reason in the universe to be forced to use only one lead vocalist for a song if there is a better fit and listening experience to be gleaned by combining different voices that are best suited to certain areas of a composition, whether it be lead or background vocals.It is no different than using different types of musical instruments depending on what the composition is naturally calling for...this is part of the magic of music!

I always knew there was something intrinsically different about the voices in this song! Friends used to think I was crazy saying that and really gave me a hard time about it. I am so glad I came across this interview. I think I am going to look them up and totally rub it in their faces! Now if I can just find an interview describing the meaning behind this song. I have my theories and am quite curious to hear it from them. I realize many songs are written without a specific meaning, theme, or story-but Alan Parsons lyrics have always been so intentional-I can not imagine this one being without it's own purpose.
