Beautiful duet. Frank and Rosemary truly complement each other. Their understated approach really highlights the powerful message found in this song.

What did sinatra do with the "wise men never try". The last note was just fantastic.

"South Pacific" importante obra basada en un cuento que ganó el Premio Pulitzer llamado justamente "Cuentos del Pacífico Sur". Rodgers y Hammerstein II , compusieron una magnífica Opereta sobre este cuento.Frank Sinatra y Rosemary Clooney hacen un hermoso dúo para "Some enchanted evening" (Alguna tarde encantadora) , un importante número de esta obra, acompañados por la orquesta de un gran director y arreglador como fue Nelson Riddle..

Aren't they amazing? I managed to find a ""Guys and Dolls" CD on eBay. You have the Rat Pack AND Bing Crosby, Jo Stafford, the McGuire Sisters, Dinah Shore, Debbie Reynolds and even Allan Sherman. Yes - dream cast. The series came out on CD in 2000. That was it. You can always check eBay or Amazon; they have the four CDs for a couple HUNDRED bucks. Ouch. Suddenly, I understand the appeal of the illegal file sharing the cool kids are into! But, no - I buy MY Sinatra through legit channels!

And I have to say that the songs on the aforementioned LP's you listed are wonderful to listen to!

Sinatra did four forgotten albums at Reprise, setting up what he called "Reprise Musical Repertory Theatre." They were studio recordings of selections from musicals in which he "cast" people who'd never otherwise be in a stage musical. Today, it's called a "dream cast." Half a century ago, it was one of Sinatra's crazy ideas. Sinatra and Co. did "Finian's Rainbow," "Kiss Me, Kate," "Guys and Dolls," and "South Pacific." Some of the tracks wound up on Sinatra's Reprise albums.

When a genius like Sinatra teams with a genius like Riddle, they make each other even better.

Thanks - one of the great Reprise recordings - this duet is better than both his solo recordings - apart from this version it seems to be a song that didn't suit him - his Columbia version was spoiled by his pronunciation of the word "room" which comes out as "rum"

This has to be THE definitive version of this song! Sinatra, Clooney and Riddle's arrangement full of beauty and depth. Unlike a lot of the Broadway shows, Riddle's arrangement leaves out the melody - he lets the singers shine singing the melody and then supports them masterfully. A great singer does NOT need the melody playing behind him.
