How I love Solomon. Same for this song. i can't listen to it for longer than 10 seconds than my body is swaying to beat. i can rememebr folks copying the "Down Down Down Down " line when it came out. Myself included.

*Down in the Valley*Solomon BurkeI used to hear this on the AM radio late at night. Back then R&B music wasn't played by the local top 40 radio stations. I listened to a radio station out of Nashville, TN advertised by Randy's Record Shop. You could order records by mail. I didn't have the money to order the records but really enjoyed the music. I never was a big fan of top 40. I had my own preferences. At any rate the Nashville station played the R&B artists of the 50s and early 60s. This was my favorite.

This is the stereo mix. The mono mix, which is what would have been heard on radios and jukeboxes and Dansette Juniors in 1962, can be found on ketefollen1984's youtube thingy. Same recording, just the stereo has the horns and backing vocals much further forward in the mix, I reckon.
