Solid Air by John Martyn from a gig in Germany 1978. Have digitally improved sound & video of this legendary Scottish Singer Songwriter. Changing a bust string shows his wry kind of humor. Thanks John for all the many songs of depth and emotion that brightened up many a day. You Caw Canny Big Man.

Well, none of his mates and acquaintances were forced to be his mates and acquaintances, which begs the question, if he was such a c*nt, why were they? Did they reallt like him as a person (in which case, why are they sticking the knife in him when he's no longer around to defend himself?) or were they just hanging out with him because of the advantages his fame could bring them (in which case, they'd be wiser to keep their thoughts about selfishness to themselves)?

Ripping a string out like that and doing the pin with your teeth could have gone horribly wrong but in John's case ........... Into Solid Air :)

Most of us are made of flesh and blood. This guy is 100% music, oozing from every pore in his body. Wonderful!

I always thought he was English, not Scottish. He was born in Surrey. He spent some of his life in Scotland, but being born in England makes him English, surely? Not that it matters, because he is brilliant nonetheless.

Speechless... Probably the best I have ever heard. And I ain't no stranger to Martyns music to begin with. Man, do we miss him.

A man, an acoustic guitar and an evocative voice singing a deceptively simple song. I saw him live in Dublin and left feeling moved ad exhilerated. I love to go hear singer/songwriter Ken Haddock sing Martyns songs live (if I make special request) at Jenny Watts in Bangor, Co Down Perfect voice to cover.
