Their new stuff blows. Stabbing the Drama and Sworn to a Great Divide are their only good albums. Everything before and after has been atrocious dogshit.

Pretty sure he does a hybrid. Moast metal drummers do to be able to hear themself live. It also helps cutting trough the wall of guitars and bass on the PA.

anyone who doubts this man's skills is an idiot

tight as FUCK. You can see he's a real studio drummer, no faking in the studio. All live, 100%

I also want to clear one thing up, I'm drunk. If I misinterpreted your comment in some way please correct me. I've seen way too many comments about drummers using triggers.

This whole triggers-or-no-triggers argument has gone way too far. You wouldn't have enjoyed the show if Dirk had used bass drum triggers? Ridiculous, just fucking ridiculous. It would have actually taken something away from the show? Oh dear JESUS, this is really something.

I saw them live a long time ago. The only reason why I asked is because I was looking forward to being able to clearly hear his footwork. I don't know if he triggered or not but I was able to fully enjoy the performance anyway. At this point, it's of no consequence. You all can stop replying to this comment now, it's been over 2 years. :)

i was at this show and it was incredible. Soilwork touring with Death Angel?? Fuck yeah!! I hope they tour again, a great pair. Swedish Metal with 80s bay area thrash, thats the combo I listen to everyday.

I have seen him using triggers on his kick from a few live photos.

@sickdrummerdotcom but it sounds not like any triggers used.

@sickdrummerdotcom but today it isn't a big problem to retrigger a drums mic signal. even live.

@TheBrownMan2112 He definitely uses triggers. Most(if not all) extreme metal drummers do. If they want their kicks(and the mix) to sound any good, especially at faster speeds, it's a must really. It isn't cheating, just a sonic aid. In fact, all their mistakes clearly pop up when you use triggers, therefore these guys need to be consistent to avoid sounding sloppy.

@sickdrummerdotcom i know that he is using Snare Triggers because his style of playing is based on snare drum .

@MrJoeyMonster Funny, I saw a video, don't know where, but Dirk used triggers there.. By the way triggers aren't for noobs, people who say that probably don't know shit about drumming

MrJoeyMonster

@TheBrownMan2112 Triggers are for noobs. Dirk is far from being a noob!

@sickdrummerdotcom I know it has been over a year since you replied about the Triggers but yes he does, You can see in the vid too. just below the high rack/ low rack you can see the ddrum Bass drum trigger.. The confusing thing is that hes hybrid, Trigger/Mic on the bass... just thought I'd point it out :)
