I hear a lot of comparisons to Tool and Opeth, merely because one ex-member of Opeth is in the band. A more critical ear would hear Tool/Dead Soul Tribe. I hear no neoclassical riffs and no Opeth influence at all.

I am a massive Maynard fan, TOOL, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer, and all things related, as well as being a musician of many many years, and my ears are finally tuned. In this I see & hear a lot of influence from TOOL. I own TOOL FAMILY on Facebook ( Australia ), and I see a lot of things people like to share on my page regarding bands, artists who are inspired by Maynards bands, and their side projects, and I feel this one unfortunately doesn't grab me. But good luck to them!

I'm the biggest fan of Maynard and all of his projects. Tool A perfect Circle and Puscifer are all in my top ten. Does Soen have similarities to Tool? Hell yes and isn't that fucking awesome?! They are different enough to stand out, but similar enough to allow me to fall in love with this band. People stop bitching; especially if you're a fan of Tool, just kick back and enjoy this incredible music.

Totally right John D! When I heard Tool I said, "they are like a new King Crimson. How aweseom!" You should really check out CODEC. They have a fully amazing album called Horizontime. When I heard them I said, "they are like the evolution of modern progressive music, but with amazing songwriting too."

Considering the fact that the drummer is opeth's ex. and the vocalist actually sounds a wee bit like opeth's akrefieldt.....fuck i ca easily think it's opeth. xD
