heh, so true! jeff kinda single handedly created the whole guitartronica sound with 'mama'. though robert fripp deserves credit for his 'no pussyfooting' (1979) which is amazing, 'must hear', but more 'ambient' than 'techno'

Man I love how kind of Techno-Rock he went as he got older, something you wouldn't expect ofa blues-rocker from 60s & 70s generation

@jfrockon I hear you man..Its like buckethead has never played here in bakersfield or fresno ca that i know of? But i could almost bet that people here cannot get passed his image..Uli roth finnaly played here twice in the last couple years and it was great..Small town called exeter couldnt beleive it cause both shows had small attendance.Anyways me and this corn fed wanna be johnny winter (but fat) almost got into it outside talking about different guitarist hes all who would listen that dude!

@dannyhood66 Thank for the insight..... I just find it hard to "connect" with a musician that has the image thing like that though. It just seems so impersonal....

@jfrockon Most people hate bucketheads image or''gimmic''.I never gave him a chance until a friend brought over a CD called 'Colma' It was so different from anything ive heard from rock guitarist..Pure beauty in bucketheads playing..And that album is just a drop in the bucket!,'He has many other records that are of his own feel like nobody else but buckethead..I always liked hendrix ,uli jon roth etc..But for new music i love bucketheads atmospheric deep space feel..Sur moon'' Sketches of spain

John5 and Bucket head are ok but are not even a hair on the pimple on Jeff Becks ass. They would never been noticed if they did not have a gimmick. There is really no argument on that to those in the know.

Anyone who compares John 5 to Jeff Beck is either 12 years old or simply has never picked up a guitar before. What's with the "5" anyway?

I agree, Beck is in a league all his own. John 5 is overated in my opinion. He's a shredder with not much else. The only modern guitarist I enjoy as much as Beck is Buckethead. Sure BH is a shredder but he has some great ideas like the Colma album. No one can touch Beck though.

Thanks for your comment ; I have to say I see no comparison of John 5 to JB. John has considerable playing skill, but his song composition is poor. I've just listened to his number 'Soul of a Robot'. Yep, no arguement there! I struggled to get through the full 3 and half mins...I prefer Kraftwerk when in th@ sort of mood. J5 is all technique, no soul. Even when he starts to sound interesting, he just goes nowhere... he plays with all the artistry of an accountant. Jeff is in another league!!

No maybes about it. Becky came first, and made this album before any of John5's. Not to disrespect John5, he is amazing in his own right, but JB did come first.
