People must revise what the word 'emo' really means. Guys, 'So They Say' ISN'T an emo band. This is an alternative rock band.

Although I semi-agree with what you say, your arguement is flawed. Rites of Spring were argueably the first emo band but only because people started calling them that. Their music is nearly undescernable from hardcore punk. As for the Promise Ring... Yes, they're an emo band, but they're a second-wave emo band that sound absolutely nothing like hardcore punk. They sound a lot more like Jimmy Eat World than Rites of Spring or even Fugazi. So, could this simply be 4th-wave emo? I think yes.

What is your problem? Nothing is wrong about being emo. Just the way you guys look disgusts some people. I'm pretty much in to hardcore/punk though I like this song.

@N1ghtT3roorz I'm confused here. I am certainly arguing intelligently, and based on your first comment, I replied accordingly. But then you brought up a few points that I felt I had to address. So, it needs to be known that I've been a part of the music scene for almost 12 years now, and it just irritates the living fuck out of me when people call bands like My Chemical Romance and Panic At The Disco emo. It's just shitty rock music. Emo is emotional punk. Rites Of Spring, The Promise Ring, etc.

@chosentonessournotes Arguing intelligently, a lot more fun right?

@N1ghtT3roorz You're aware that I'm talking shit on what everyone considers emo, right? This isn't emo. That's all I'm saying. This is some form of rock. It's not fucking emo. When did I ever say I was emo? I'm a guy who wears jeans and polo shirts, and I listen to mostly metal. I'm not criticizing this band at all. I love So They Say. I loved them all the times I saw them.

@chosentonessournotes i think you should change your name to sour milk, then you'll sound like im sure you smell, and did you really tell me to kill myself? You're the Emo faggot who goes around youtube critisizing music thats NOT EMO ENOUGH or some fucking shit. I take solace in the fact that you PROBABLY WILL kill yourself. Fucking dumbass

@chosentonessournotes lmao wow dude, trying to bash me over a comment I put 9 months ago really shows how much of a pathetic loser you are. Do you really have that much time on your hands? Frankly, I don't care if saying "hella" is cool or not. The fact that it is an issue for you is retarded, by the way, check your grammar, idiot.

@Godfather94 Dude, it's 2011 and you're still using the fucking word HELLA still? Even 9 months ago when it was 2010, that word stopped being cool 10 years ago. Shut the fuck up.

Finally, if you really REALLY feel the need to respond to my two year old comment where I told people to quit throwing around the word emo, don't. I quite frankly don't care what you have to say about it. I think it's a stereotype, I think people that brand themselves as "emo" when they're clearly a scene kid makes me want to shoot them, and I don't have much to say beyond that. I don't care about genres, I just listen to what sounds good. I don't care about cores and styles, so shut up.

@tanateddybear Hahaha, don't know how I missed this one. I Wish I Were Cool Enough To Capitalize Every First Letter Of Every Single Word Of Every Sentence! Just so we're clear, by the way, calling someone a douche is an insult, not a stereotype. A stereotype is like saying, "He's a black dude, so he must love fried chicken!" That's a stereotype. Not saying someone is an asshole. Like you! You're an asshole! Have fun fucking up your pinkies. Lay off the shift key every once in a while.

@T4styTHC Ugh, no. Post-hardcore refers to anything that was crafted FROM hardcore. And I mean, legit hardcore, like Black Flag. Escape The Fate is shitty metalcore, and yes, metalcore is a derivative of metal, and can refer to anything that has metal-type music with clean/harsh vocals. I love Whitechapel, but they're considered deathcore. I hate genres, personally, but emo has ALWAYS meant emotional punk. Like The Promise Ring, Sunny Day Real Estate, Rites Of Spring... Do some fucking research.
