This version of Townes Van Zandt's great song was recorded by Pat and Natalie on Pat's "George's Bar" album which was released in 1997...about a year before the Dixie Chick's started achieving commercial success. Natalie's dad, Lloyd Maines, produced the album.

Texas, Reddirt, and Americana musicians have been around way before Pat Green came beeboppin along, and they're still around long after Pat went Nashvegas.

their payments double and triple, no way they can stay in the house. This happens tens of thousands of times, the banks become insolvent, the credit market dries up, stores can't buy inventory, cars can't be financed... goodbye Circuit City, Auto Dealerships, unemployment rises. Demand for cars, washers dryers, dries up, the people that make them are laid off. This cycle continues, until corporations can become profitable and start hiring and expanding. Raines is now Obama's economic advisor.

Maybe I should have said that liberals don't take ownership of those consequences. I could cite many, but a very significant one would be the current economic "crisis". Liberal policies like the fair Housing act, forced banks to lend money to marginally qualified folks. Fnma and fdmc, directed by Franklin Raines, bought those loans, so the banks could make even more of them. Especially egregious, they were ARM mortgages, peoplein their first homes, full of hopes and dreams, have their ...

You need to explain how "liberals do not care for the consequences of their own actions."

You don't offer any evidence in support of your point. Look, I'm not gonna change your mind here. How about you tell me specifically, how the world will be better now that the Dems control the government. Be specific with respect to the economy, foreign policy, government control of individuals, and national defense. Be able to support your position with factual precedents. I will be glad to discuss this with you further.

AL60E, The Bush regime LIED us into the Iraq invasion. There is plenty of evidence for that, and the rest of the world was more aware of it at that time than were Americans. I was proud that Natalie chose to speak out against the BushCo's immoral war. It was her responsibility as an American to do that! To say that "liberals do not care for the consequences of their own actions" is completely wrong, and a smear.

No I don't. I probably didn't make my point clear enough either. Anyway, this is a great version of a Townes Van Zant song. He is kind of a folk icon here in Texas. You should check out "Nothin" done by Robert Plant and Allison Krause, or Lyle Lovett's version of "Flyin' Shoes"

Remember that the Chicks market demographic is primarily Country. That particular group doesn't really support having any president bad-mouthed on foreign soil, by an American. Especially when we are at war. I like the Chicks music a lot. Natalie just blew the marketability of the Chicks when she made her comments, and as usual, liberals do not care for the consequences of their own actions. So just buy their music if you want to support them, and leave it at that.

You people have to be kidding me... you actually think the Dixie Chicks suck? Natalie is a great American who was crucified for exercising her rights. To stand up to the establishment when it is not popular and risk your career is nothing short of heroic.

I agree completely. This was before Natalie appointed the Chicks to the Department of State. This is a really good smooth version of Townes song.
