The title of the song is 'Mysterious Ways'. Snow Patrol have produced a cover with an air of mystery. Job done.

You can have different interpretation, perspective or view when making a cover, but I think the original soul/foundation of the song should be kept. 'Mysterious Ways' is just a very sexy hip gyrating come-hither anthem, whereas Snow Patrol seems to have done away with all of that and only kept the lyrics. I don't mind the delicate lingering sounds, but for this song it seems misplaced.

I didn't really like it the 1st time, but on the 2nd try, I do hear some understated je ne sais quoi; shots of a peaceful desert might be an appropriate music video for this. I know covers aren't *supposed* to sound like originals, but IMHO they stripped too much out of the song, like all the bass, orchestra, the bridge w/the cellos- my favorite part, and of course, Edge's signature guitar riff that skyrocketed 'Mysterious Ways' to one of the most definitive tracks of 90s alternative.
