THIS IS SO FUCKING GOOD. Elton's voice is so rough and masculine, even tho he's the one who's gay, and Smokey's is high and feminine, even tho he's hetero. real cool.

Elton sounds particularly croaky on here but I think it gives a depth to it actually. Smokey's high Tenor along with Elton's husky croak works well. Having seen Elton John live many times I know he can STILL sing munch better than this on a good day! People are quite harsh on here, he's pushing 70 and still does around 200 shows a year to adoring fans. People also forget that Elton was a rare example of someone in line with and embraced by the African American music scene from as early as 1973 with Bennie and the Jets hitting the #1 spot on the R&B chart. Great to hear these two ledgers together. If you enjoy it you should also check out his duet of Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest word with Ray Charles, in fact it was the last thing Ray Charles ever recorded.

We was listening to Elton John a quarter parties before many white folk in the suburbs was up on him. Elton John has nothing but admiration from the African American community. His music moved culture. A perfect example is him doing this with Smokey
