The emotion they put into this song, hits home every time. Can't wait for Slaves to release another album.

I'm not even a parent and this song hits home with me. Maybe it's because I grew up in a split home, but this song is so beautiful in so many ways; not just the amazing singing and the instrumentation. I see it as a dialogue between two children and the parent (or parents) they didn't get to have. About how they want to know how to love and be shown right from wrong in this life but have never had that guiding hand from somebody who knows. They feel faced with hopelessness and not knowing; hence the "I'll never know love" line... Then from the parent's point of view, it appears that he didn't want to leave them and it was a situation out of his control. He see's how they struggle and wishes he could give them advice and guidance they seek but is unable to for one reason or another. Hence the "how could you leave her she was perfect" line. I think the main point of this song is to say how important beyond words it is for children to have good parents in their lives. So. freaking. good.

its been 7 years since his relationship with his ex who apparently had his kid and refused to let him see her... hmmm maybe part this song has a meaning to it and looking back to their father leaving

How could you leave and watch usFace this life aloneBoth our hearts were yours to moldSo open and freeBut everything we've lostHow did the words make it worth itHow did the words make it worth it [3x]I know what it's like to hurt when we're aloneI want to tell the one that follows in my footstepsThey aren't the way, so turn backSet the course to watch them fallBut these cuts are deeper after allTwenty-seven years, my heart still hurts, it still hurtsHow could you leave her, she was perfect. Now all your dreams, they reek of failureStill the older we get, the more broken we becomeCan someone show me how to love (show me how to love) [2x]Watching mistakes, I feel I'll never know loveHow could I be like youI'm not over everything I madeYet it day to dayJust to let them fallJust to be something in your eyes [2x]How could you leave her, she was perfect. Now all your dreams, they reek of failureStill the older we get, the more broken we becomeCan someone show me how to love (show me how to love) [2x]Watching mistakes, I feel I'll never know loveHow could you leave the watch usFace this life aloneBoth our hearts were yours to moldSo open it freeBut everything we've lostHow did the words make it worth itHow could you leave her, she was perfect. Now all your dreams, they reek of failureStill the older we get, the more broken we becomeCan someone show me how to love (show me how to love) [2x]Watching mistakes, I feel I'll never know loveCan someone show me how to love (show me how to love) (continuous)I'll never know love

This is such an under loved song, but it is just so good. I just feel it needs more love is all.

I like his voice, i think he should work on his annunciation a bit. I always thought that.

To the people taking shots at the rest of the band, listen to Isles and Glaciers and Emarosa when they had Jonny Craig. I know the drums sound way different for the style of soulful vocals featured. Give it some time and it will grow on you.Personally, I love that the contrast in instrumentals and vocals makes for a unique and amazing sound. They sound far different from every other band.
