Saw these guys several times around 1978/79. Brilliant! The boot boys are still here!

Probably re-fering to skinheads and football hooligans. Skinheads first emerged late 1960s ,then they sort of revived late 70s.The actual boots being re-fered to are the excellent Dr Martin`s ( DMs or Doc`s) I was never a`boot boy ` but that was all i ever wore on my feet from my mid teens till about 25. Hard wearing and good to run in from would be attackers !

I didn't surf in here...I kinda just ricocheted.unwittingly...and decided to stick around and listened to this tune. This is badass! Now for real...I'm from the States and am almost 60. Still a hard rocker for sure, but I'm embarassed to say that I'm not familiar with the term "Boot Boy". Would someone be kind enough to clue me in? When was this at it's peak? Was it a politically-motivated type of thing, or ? I appreciate the lesson, my friends. Thanks joel in arizona

A line from the song that might help, "Now it's been 5 years or more, I'm a Skin don't know what for" ;-)
