Same here, it's stunning stuff and just shows me the futility of searching through the 100 "greatest" singers of awed time!!

This guy was so incredibly good! He was 65 years old in this video, 2 years before he passed.

Almost all recorded blues stems from even older songs, hence why you hear certain lines being used in so many different songs. It's not really a matter of stealing, it's just part of the music, I think. I bet Patton used the older songs in the same way.

His talent is taking a secular subject, like shagging, and bringing a spiritual dimension to the consequences. It's like a judgment, but not one that's stated. There is no better singer in any form of music, his voice is a conjuror, a whisp, a subtle kind of scream. The guitar parts are perfect counterpoint to that eerie voice. He was apparently hard to be around. White commentators found his cynical observations upsetting, to them. but maybe his world was much less safe and predictable..

Well, not entire songs, but lyrics within the song are taken. 20-22 can be heard in songs from people like Charley Patton "Pony Blues"

Really? Wich ones. I never noticed that but maybe i never heard those songs. I do know he never plays like the "standard" or already-made tunes like almost every other bluesguy does. And Robert Johnson "the big famous legend" made a new song out of 22-20. Mr. Skip can play very nice, but he is more of a songwriter-kinda player i think. He is had a real self-made repertoire of songs. But maybe i'm wrong.
