LYRICS:

I recall going madly in love with you

And I remember this

How could I forget?

Regret is a needle

In my neck

It's slowly filling me

With poison

Spreading to my chest

Take my pain and numb me from this

Why do I have to beg

When all that's left

Is a memory

Forsaken [2x]

I recall pledging my sole devotion to you

It reminds me how

Now I'm on my knees

My guilt consumes

Lost the will in me

Wasting away before you

Hold me closer please

Take my pain and numb me from this

Why do I have to beg

When all that's left

Is a memory

Forsaken [2x]

Yeah, yeah, yeah

You break me

Forsake

You break me [2x]

You're breaking me

I recall going madly in love with you

And I remember this... Tell me

Why do I have to beg

When all that's left

Is a memory

Forsaken [2x]

Yeah, yeah, yeah

Forsaken

Yeah, yeah, yeah

Tell me why, why, why, why

Okay well, now for what some would say is ole school. When I listen to Skillet's FORSAKEN, I get a nuanced perspective of essentially the theology of the cross; nuanced because it is indeed part of the Christian endeavor to participate in divine passion; that is, the suffering of Christ, and, on some level such suffering as we experience it is unique to our personality.  But at the end of the day, Christ is the one and only one who could bear the ultimate sacrifice. This is something Martin Luther tried to clarify centuries ago a midst much controversy. Alas debate  is not much different today; we could never presume to suffer as God in Jesus Christ did. But I sometimes imagine being able to scream  my suffering songs to God quite the way John Cooper does. Important is that we remember that those are the cries of the passion of Christ and there can be none other.

I was told by a classmate that I couldn't listen to Skillet, which is one of my favorite bands, simply because I'm a Satanist. People never cease to amaze me.

Wouldn't the snake be representing our regret? I raps around our neck until we choke

Oh, I wish I could help you! I am praying for you! But I agree with you on ONE thing. If someone's religion is right TO THEM, everyone else doesn't have to agree with them. But I know I'm NOT comparing the "aspect" of God I believe in to the Muslim's "god"... (stupid muslims... pffft... ha! rape, OK?!?!?)
