I know, right? It seems impossible for people to like what they want w/o someone else coming along and trying to poop in their wheaties over it.

Funny how a lot of the people commenting on here seem to think that Nine Inch Nails represents some kind of 'fake' commercial Industrial while SMG is the real thing. I love SMG, and have for years, along with a lot of bands like Chemlab and Hate Dept. that definitely rock, but even combined they didn't have the genre defining talent of The Holy Trinity: NIN, Ministry, Skinny Puppy. Nuff Said.

With all due respect, you are out of your mind.

Their first album came out 3 years after Pretty Hate Machine and the chorus structure is nearly identical to Head Like a Hole. I don't blame them they heard a sound and got influenced. "Pathetic" might have been a bit strong. Did you happen to see NIN live in 91 like I did? Makes it hard to be in my teens considering that was 21 years ago.

whats with all the associations between SMG and NIN? they sound nothing alike. they don't even belong in the same conversation. NIN is one of the first things that pops up when you google "Industrial", SMG is some of the good stuff you find when you start digging for some of the good stuff. Lohner was a god of the commercial industrial sound, and no one knew he was more NIN than Reznor. but SMG had the character to make a sound thier own.
