Siouxsie and the Banshees - Suburban Relapse - Live in 1979. Not the best quality but such a good song - and this is a great version with the classic line up.

So glad someone's uploaded this. Of all the classic SATB songs it was important to have an original live performance of, this was the one.Such a great song and the recording quality's not that bad at all.

thanks amigo for immortalizing an unseen by me phase of the band..reminding us who were around (in USA) in that era (& ESPECIALLY to those that weren't) that power+punk attitude didnt begin/end with just say The Pistols (history simplifies but doesnt recall everyone properly). This prev. unheard GREAT track (&performance) alone is evidence of great band even if they didnt do TONS of other great stuff. Just monster & masterly wall of guitar noise (with touches of angular Gang of Four-y type twang)

@bakshay I was at that Country Club Gof4 show too. I saw them a bunch of times back then ... 1st L.A. gig was opening for Buzzcocks at the Santa Monica Civic 9/12/1979 ... opening for Iggy Pop there as well 11/11/1980 ... Perkins Palace 7/15/1981 ... The Country Club 9/10/1982 (with R.E.M. opening) ... at The Palace around that same time ... etc. I also know they played at The Starwood as well (5/20/1980 and 5/21/1980) w/ The Plugz, but I didn't go (D'oh!). Thank God for saved ticket stubs!!

@MrRaffles Do you have the whole Folllies [sic] tape? I would love to see the whole thing but can't find it online anywhere ...

@bakshay You must've gone to one of the 2nd/late shows at the Whisky. I went all 3 nights (1st shows the first 2 nights, only show the 3rd night) and they didn't play this in any of the 3 sets I saw. Perkins isn't in the Valley btw it was in Pasadena! That show was 10/14/1981. Too bad Sioux got laryngitis and they cancelled the next night's show at The Country Club ...

Thanks for the upload..saw them at the Whiskey A-Go-Go and again at some place int he Valley --Perkins Palace! Yes in 80 or 81.. They opened with this at one of the whiskey shows and I wlll never forget it. Thye werent the best technical punk (but who the f was... no need) but they captivated..it was gutsy performance art that rocked!

The quality of the video is not important. This song is one of my favourites, sends a shiver down my spine. Just awesome!!!

@MrRaffles - thanks for posting this. Clips with McKay & Morris are so rare. Do you know if a low-gen copy of this whole "Folllies" set exists? Teh Googlez is giving me no satisfaction.

This is from "Follies", a show on Belgian french TV. They aired live shows from Wire, The Jam, Buzzcocks, The Ruts, XTC,...and I think they erased all the original tapes! Thanks for the upload!

Brilliant stuff! McKay's guitar sound was a blueprint for so many bands (pale imitations) that followed. Disappointed that he didn't sprout an extra set of arms (Shiva-like) to simultaneously play the sax line ;-) ) Ta lots for posting this "Scream" classic.

Thanks for posting - the 'classic' lineup with Kenny Morris & John McKay, those two had a great dark moodiness about them, then of course Robert Smith + Budgie had to step in but still good - I'm sure you were there - great gigs.

It may be bad quality but that doesn't matter. This is the only video I've seen of them do this live. Thanks :)
