Sing Me to Heaven

Daniel E. Gawthrop

text by Jane Griner

Performed by Octarium

from the Essentials album

In my heart's sequestered chambers lie truths stripped of poet's gloss.

Words alone are vain and vacant, and my heart is mute.

In response to aching silence memory summons half-heard voices,

And my soul finds primal eloquence and wraps me in song.

If you would comfort me, sing me a lullaby.

If you would win my heart, sing me a love song.

If you would mourn me and bring me to God,

Sing me a requiem, Sing me to heaven.

Touch in me all love and passion, pain and pleasure,

Touch in me grief and comfort; love and passion, Pain and pleasure.

Sing me a lullaby, a love song, a requiem,

Love me, comfort me, bring me to God:

Sing me a love song, Sing me to heaven.

Thanks, DJ. Its always a sign of high class to point out someone's mistake in public.

Very nice. Are the bass notes correct between :33 & :37? I believe they should be F natural and not F sharp...

Beautiful !

Exquisite performance. Clear tones & vowels, not a hint of vibrato (which doesn't belong here). A challenge for a small ensemble, since each voice is a bit more "exposed".

Exquisite music, poetry, and performance. You fill me with wonder even as I know this magical work in our choir's performance. Thank you!

I had the amazing opportunity to sing this song in high school my 03-04 year. To this day I still remember every word and will likely never forget it. I only wish I still had the video of my high school choir performing this song on our trip to San Francisco where we performaned in Grace Cathedral. Simply amazing. Beautiful piece.

Every part has such distinction. Unity is so powerful in this piece and you nailed it. Fermata was approached in a beautiful way. I especially loved the dynamic throughout the whole piece itself, it really highlighted the importance of the song. I'm IMPRESSED! ;)
