From the album "Black & White"

I'm in a golden temple,

In a bombed out street,

Feel the rough and tumble,

Down where the borders meet,

I hear the sandstorm falling,

Down where the tears have dried,

And there's a west-wind calling,

But I get no reply.

And I kiss the ground,

I kiss the ground,

Nothing around.

There is no hidden karma,

There is no sacred plight,

There is no special armour,

To take me through the night.

I kiss the ground,

I kiss the ground,

Nothing around,

I kiss the ground.

I kiss the ground.

Nothing around.

Into the space between us.

Into the words that say.

Every law demeans us,

And with every price you pay.

There is no hidden karma,

There is no sacred plight,

There is no special armour,

To take me through the night.

I kiss the ground,

I kiss the ground,

Nothing around,

I kiss the ground.

I kiss the ground.

I kiss the ground.

Nothing around.

I kiss the ground.

There is no manna mania,

There is no banquet here,

There is only ghettos.

I kiss the ground.

On this album they have went back to their early 80's funky artrock sound and the bass can breath, sounds so good <3 ! Eddy Duffy is the Man!

I agree with you as awesome a band that they are, I myself don't compare them to U2 because where U2 to MY ears are exclusively a alternative band and to MY ears Simple Minds are a Prog/Alternative mix and I LOVE both styles so I DO like U2 but I LOVE Simple Minds!!

Dude, you speak wise words... it's like you just read my mind. "Sons and Fascination" as well as there first 8 albums were beyond words.

It pisses me off every day how under-appreciated Simple Minds are.... album after album after album... their music stands the test of time and never gets old.

I like to spin it a little bit more positively, you need to have a keen sense regarding quality music, not every one has it, much less now a days in this world of hollow-pre-fabricated-bubblegum-pop or noise-mistaken-for-angst-and-passion-imitation-of-rock music. Few are the chosen that can really appreciate this magnificence and we won't never turn our backs on them. Simple minds have given us a soundtrack to our lives and we pay them back with unquestioned loyalty and passion for their art :)

I am SM as they come and to me this is feeble lazy weak predictable and just a rehash of other mediocre efforts

This should have more views. It's a strong song that builds up nicely. And to those people who don't rate Kerr's lyrics then i suggest you listen carefully to this or just read the lyrics -helpfully put up here.

It really pisses me off that a lot of people either are barely aware of who SM's are or they dismiss 'em or simply don't realise how rich, varied and innovative this great Scottish band are. There is not one bad or..medicore..song on their last album. Compare that with u2's last album which is poor in comparison. And i am saying that having been a huge u2 fan once upon a time!
