man, I remember first time I heard SOIA it was in middle school i swiped a few cds when I went to a summer camp 1 week read tip up and down the coast of California. I grabbed Deftone's Around the Fur album, it was the new album at the time. The CD in it was Built To Last for Sick Of It All. Been a huge listener of them ever since. For some reason still haven't seen em live after all these years. Next time I see a flyer or something for SOIA in So Cal, I'm goin definitely, even if I gotta drive a little.

I think you are forgetting the millions of bands in New York that don't sound like madball or other idols in the NY Hardcore scene. H2O, Los Lobos, Agnostic Front, most bands from the "Lower East Side" and then the CA Hardcore scenes and it's Melodic Hardcore greats like 7 Seconds, Youth Brigade, and of course Minor Threat. But to be fair, when you start talking about idols you lose credit. You forgot what hardcore was about, so ahead bash others choice in styles, Then I will ask you about FEAR.

hardcore is much more than new york and much more than 1980s/1990s. hc evolved so much that it became one of the broadest if not the broadest musical genre that ever existed. new york is just one part of it. i love hc and respect contribution of af or soia but dude - there is so much more. imo new york scene is one of the most boring faces of hc there is:)
