I loved the beauty of your interpretation. Elegant and lovely. Thank you for a gorgeous Sibelius offering. At times, sacred.

Can you do a tutorial on this? I'm learning it by ear and having a tough time trying to figure out what that chord is right before the scale that brings the cadenza back into the main melody.

I always wanted to fully learn and perform this piece, and I did learn most of it on my own. But my piano teacher decided to move me up two grades instead of one so I missed my chance. Maybe someday in retirement I'll learn it again. :)

Embaressingly romantic. Who ever thought old Sibie could be so tender & hot. Wonderful.

A bientôt !...

Certainly played with the most beautiful TONE. The piano, itself, must be superb, but it takes a player with great skill and understanding to produce such glorious singing tone. I did feel, if you don't mind my saying it, that the PACE was a tad too deliberate. Consequently the phrasing felt a bit constipated. Of course when it finally arrived your playing of the cadenza –– the only truly difficult part of the piece –– was marvelous. The rest? Well, it just seemed a bit too TENTATIVE for my taste. I wish you'd play the surging phrases with more flow and less rubato. I say this as one who has admired you from afar for a long time. Your command of piano technique is breathtakingly good. I wish I'd had the chance to study with you, but Alas! at 75 I'm pretty well finished and much too old.

Paul, again you lure me into loving Sibelius.  The middle section is brilliant in this piece!  Something reminded me of Mendelssohn's Rondo Capriccioso - I'd love to hear you play that.

Full use of the overhead camera angle with this one. Even the visuals are pleasing. Sibelius tells you a story, indeed. You can listen deeper and deeper.
