His debut album was amazing from start to finish, tbh. The record is more like a collection of demos than an actual "album", an considering the span of time in which the tracks were recorded, it makes sense. He wrote a song every know and then and when he had enough songs he was proud about he released the record.It's funny that DFA released it, considering that at the time of its release the electro/French house craze was in full swing and DFA was known for LCD and other more danceable indie acts. The new record is essentially just a continuation of his trademarked style, the lofi bedroom pop of sad songs informed as much by post punk and shoegaze as they were by acoustic singer songwriter stuff like Eliot Smith.Teen Suicide is a band that sounds like they'd of never existed if Shocking Pinks hadn't released their shit years before. This record was definitely slept , and 8 years later we finally have more music. My only question is how the hell this guy survives in music if he's only gonna release music once a decade lol.

Shocking Pinks write OK songs as long as A) Nick Harte doesn't sing and B) Nick Harte doesn't write the lyrics. Ugh.

I forgot all about this guy! The debut album was really good, but apparently his latest album is garbage :( (not the band, but I so wish it was the band because garbage was friggin' awesome no matter what anyone says...shirley manson, I'd shave for you.)
