2009 (Shirley performs two songs at 'Children In Need' Benefit at the Royal Albert Hall)

ABOUT Children In Need:

Children in Need 2009 was a campaign held in the United Kingdom to raise money for Children in Need. It culminated in a live broadcast on BBC One which began on the evening of Friday 20 November and ran through to the morning of Saturday 21 November. The broadcast was hosted by Terry Wogan, Tess Daly and Alesha Dixon. Alan Dedicoat read out the running totals and Peter André reported from the BT Tower. The show was broadcast from BBC Television Centre in London. Dancing Pudseys were projected on to the building. The 2009 event raised £20,309,747 by the end of the broadcast, slightly under the previous year's total of £20,991,216.

Royal Albert Hall Concert for Children In Need:

Held on 12 November, Children in Need Rocks the Royal Albert Hall was an evening of live music in London's Royal Albert Hall, organized by Gary Barlow. The concert included sets by Sir Paul McCartney, Dame Shirley Bassey, Cheryl Cole, Katherine Jenkins, Julian Lloyd Webber, Leona Lewis, Robbie Williams, Lily Allen, Dizzee Rascal, Muse, Snow Patrol and Take That, and was hosted by Chris Moyles. The event raised over two million pounds for the campaign. The event climaxed with all the artists collaborating onstage to perform "Hey Jude", by The Beatles.

ABOUT this Song:

This is a track from the Welsh vocalist DIVA Dame Shirley Bassey's album, The Performance, her first studio LP of new songs in several years.

This song was penned for Dame Shirley by Take That songwriter Gary Barlow. He recalled to The Daily Mirror: "I had to go to the studio and sing it to her; it was so nerve-racking. I came up with the song by going on Wikipedia and looking back over her life. She's an amazing woman."

Barlow appeared with the Diva in a BBC TV documentary in November 2009 in which he said it took him some time to perfect the song. It was reminiscent of Rodgers & Hammerstein, and uses the 6th, which he described as "a very old fashioned note" [meaning, obviously, the interval], adding "I've been wanting to do one for years".

"This Time" had to be edited considerably, but in the end as musical director Mike Dixon said, it stopped being his song and became her song.

LYRICS for 'This Time':

No more crying for help, no more blaming myself

Hypnotized, too much figuring out

Too much standing my ground

No pride left to be proud, only fear

Didn't know who it was in the mirror last night

So I left here with nothing to lose

Every step didn't just take me further away

Every step took me closer to finding you

I know this time's the time, the time for love

And it's right here in front of my eyes

I know this time's the time

You only get once in your life

No more trying to break free, no more apologies

No more finding my feet just to fall

Every dream didn't just take me further away

Every dream took me closer to finding you

I know this time's the time, the time for love

And it's right here in front of my eyes

I know this time's the time

You only get once in your life

Left a lot of courage behind

That I won't be needing this time

'Cause I can be true

I can be one, I can be strong

I know this time, the time

You only get once in your life

I know this heart's the heart, the heart I'm keeping

For the love I thought I'd never find

I know this times forever

For worse and for better

This time, this time

This time

This time

You are so correct uk! Obviously, this person 'TheGamekid93' doesn't know anything about Dame Shirley's life, or all the wonderful charities that she has been a part of over her 'Diamond' career of 60 years.

What are you talking about? Dame Shirley doesn't have any control over the lyrics. The song is about Diamonds because that's what the Bond film was about.
