Dusty is safe with this one. Shelby stole a bunch others though.

Not a favorite...but it's neat to see the audience enjoy it.

She has a nice voice, but this song isn't her thing. I love this song and Dusty sang with emotion and feeling. Shelby probably should have sung something else, because it something that She was just trying to get through, without feeling nauseous, at least that is how She is coming across, in my opinion.

heard shelby say it was her friend barry manilow who suggested the dusty tribute album- and indeed it was a great tour- concert to behold- i was first table out- right at stage level at iron horse in northampton- a very memorable night- wishin and hopin- done super cool here- should have been included in the studio release- great to see it here- gotta love this lady- for her no-nonsense attitude- always kicks butt-

The voice just blows you away. She doesn't look too bad either (irony).

sorry, but I don't get it. pretty girl, fair voice, and filthy mouth. Kind of sounds like Bob Dylan singing this song on helium. Dusty Springfield was the Bomb, and was a classy lady also.

Shelby seems to get better and better as she matures as an artist song writer, I love this performance.

Pure Class. Can't wait to see her at Cambridge Folk Festival, England, Great Britain.

Hello superficial one. This bird? This is a true artist and composer and singer. Dusty was a great singer, but Shelby is so much more. And she is in a record store for goodness sakes. It's a fantastic personal performance with a small talented group (the norm for her).

Agreed. This seems like a really awkward in-store performance...I think Shelby can really run hot or cold when she's not comfortable. But you put her with someone like Lee Roy Parnell or Willie Nelson, watch OUT.

True, Dusty owns this tune, but Shelby Lynne is a tremendous singer who here appears to simply be having a bit of low-key fun at Amoeba, the record store in LA. If you're not familiar with her, check out some of her other stuff, which veers from low key folky stuff, to sublime pop. Here take on 'Surfer Girl' on the 'Musicares Salutes Brian Wilson' (? title) is wonderful. Yes, a great singer, though seemingly never presented as she truly should be.

Very cool cover!!!! The slide quitar backing is an excellent addition to the vocal style. Buddy Holly might arise from his grave to join, I suppose.

you can see the lyrics just go against her grain. she is not that kinda girl. love you, shelby!!

What are you talking about? Consider the material! What if she had to sing "Mary Had A Little Lamb"? Would you say she hadn't nailed that too? The song clearly doesn't fit in with the rest of the material on the album, as she acknowledges in her remarks. Nonetheless she gives a punchy little, slightly quirky performance of it. Then consider the audience, which absolutely sucks ass. All in all, good job, Shelby!

Where did all these bald fuckers come from in the audience? Is Amoeba Music in Roswell, New Mexico??
