Because most of the songs are actually written first in acoustic, then amped up later in the studio. Anthony has said in some interviews that the guys usually start out a song by just sitting around and strumming on their acoustics.

This version sounds a LOT better than the album version in my opinion. There is just so much more passion and emotion in this. Plus I really like how the electric guitar sounds in this version, especially in the chorus.
