In 1977 punk made me think for myself, became a skinhead in 1979 which made me into a rockabilly rebel in 1982, when most skins turned NF. Still love this music though, and have fond memories on how it was back then. Care free, get a drink from a stranger at a gig, loads of good playing every weekend... could go on for months reminiscing. Long story, short. Music and religion/politics can never mix! Just listen and enjoy, poilitics and religion, sod it all to hell!

did punk really make a point of being 'anti-racist' or do you just wish it did?

it's really really crazy how there's those of us who have heard the 'skinheads aren't racist' story a million times, yet there's tons of people who just don't know.

Yes, because the original Skinhead subculture was based on the Jamaican "rude boys" and embraced both the clothes and the music - Ska and Reggae. No big mystery there. Punk made a point of being anti-racist vis. The Clash and Sham 69, who headlined the Rock against Racism festival in London.
