I've wondered about the meaning of this song for 20 years.Rodrigo is the name of the Devil Boy born in the last part of 100 Years of Solitude. i interpret the lyrics as a Mother speaking to her disabled son, telling him that even though he is weak he is going to devour the world in front of him.Rodrigo eventually grows up and leaves. The Mother is unable to have a relationship without trying to change the man into a new Rodrigo.

This is one of my favorite songs from them. I saw them in Myrtle Beach one night and sang every word like an annoying ass drunk. I guess the lead singer noticed me, and at the end said to me, "Hey, man. You wanna know what that song's about?" I shouted, "Yeah!" He said, "It's about Roderigo, man."
