Set The Ray To Jerry has a real Siamese Dream-esque sound to it here.

Oh, and to everyone wondering from whence this came, it's off of Quiet and Other Songs, which was basically what they sent to Virgin to show them what they were working on. All tracks were recorded live, possibly 8 tracks, but it sounds like 4 to me. Tulips and another song whose name escapes me are some nice songs.

well i'm not actually an egotistic prick or anything and no i'm not a narcissist sorry if you got that impression. And I didn't actually mean to say that I owned the opinion (I actually meant "couldn't you write your own comment?")...its just that the exact comment that i wrote more than 3 three years ago as a guest on that site (Its still there I can send you a link to it if you want) was copied and pasted directly onto the description. I'm not gonna lose sleep over it anyway.

You have GOT to be kidding. I imagine only about a couple million other people arrived at that same opinion. Any emotions you wanna claim ownership of, while yer at it? All I ever see when I try to get REAL info from these comment boxes is far too many semi-educated narcissists trying to slap their name on a buncha stuff they had nothing to do with. Ego is a freakish thing...

This is in no way better than the 1979 single version. The bass and distorted guitar is what makes Set the Ray one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded.

This is a bit awkward but I couldn't help noticing that the video description you have seems to have been directly copied and pasted from a comment that I remember leaving on thepumpkinsdotnet a couple of years ago...i couldn't really care less that i have been plagiarised but i mean...can't you just write your own opinion? i'm sorry

TAFH version is an obvious improvement on this. it's really amazing how they made such a good song out of so little compositionally.

I agree with everyone who thinks the left channel is Iha. During the Gish/SD era, and really from the beginning of the band, he played alot of the lead parts.

Apparently the producer Flood talked Billy out of putting this song on the Mellon Collie album, making it a b-side instead. Stupid move.

So in love...when I meet a girl who loves this track as much as I do, I know she is the one, haha. Says everything about aesthetics, style and appreciation of real alternative music.
