Every time a skit lasts a lot of parts,it feels like a movie, same goes to the full episodes of sesame street.

Love how Bert doesn't even get angry at Ernie in these sketches. :)

That "filthy monster" line surprised me. You definitely wouldn't hear that today. Amazing how sharp the show used to be compared to the dumbed down version on today.

Does anyone know what episode this is from?

And now, thanks to Cookie Monster, Y is now the letter that comes right after W, in the alphabet.(Ha, ha!) That's what I would always think, whenever Cookie Monster would eat(or less often, destroy)a letter of the alphabet(like he would do with the letters in Kermit's lectures, in the first season.)

I wish that cartoon boy would erase Stephen Harper!

In later sketches, I wonder why Ernie didn't erase Cookie Monster when he'd come and eat his possessions or his cookies?

(Contd), and when at long last, CM FINALLY DID hang up, he ate the phone(and it seems I also remember Ernie had given him a box of cookies), and RIGHT AT THAT MOMENT, that Ernie was trying to get the phone out of CM's mouth, Bert FINALLY called. (Too bad call waiting had not yet been invented, for Ernie's sake, at the time.) Anyway, surely others would remember that one, also. It seems it was on YOuTube, but not anymore.

BTW, I hope someone has the one other early Ernie and "then unnamed Cookie Monster" skit(this one was in multiple parts, maybe at least three)-and I even VAGUELY remember seeing this one, on the show--something about Ernie was at home by himself, and expecting a phone call from Bert, when suddenly CM(again, he was still unnamed)came to the apartment, asking to use the telephone to call his mother, and was on for a longdrawnout time, (Contd)--

Well, at least Ernie does get "a little of his own back," here, at the end, by erasing Cookie Monster, for eating his X, and even for eating Bert's bacon, of course; does it, for both himself, and Bert. But Cookie Monster's "crashing intrusions" at Bert and Ernie's place were FAR FROM OVER, of course--this would have even been before the "tragic" pillow skit.

Just think, if Ernie had happened to play tick tack toe using O's, he would have only written TWO X's(when he crossed out the 2 and the 3)as it would have turned out. Just one of those times, when, as it turns out in the end, you actually HAD KNOWN something "all along," and were "not even aware of it." Too bad his triumph was only "short-lived," though, due to the menacing(unnamed)Cookie Monster, what with CM first eating Bert's bacon, then Ernie's "very own X."

Can anyone decipher the second line of I Dream of Jeanie? The lizard sings "Soft as a bernie on a summer's zeld." Stephen Foster's original lyrics were "Borne like a vapor on a summer air."
