I hear ya a lot of people do actually.It's hard to cut through on bass with hard metal music,that's why i upgraded my bass amp so i can be HEARD lol.

For some reason, with metal and hardcore I follow the guitars, but with jazz, fusion, funk, and other styles, I lock in with the bass. I can't explain it but it's just how I play and make the groove!!!
