What an effortless performance by Jo Ann Greer. Today's singer could learn plenty by listening to her economy but she hits the spot perfectly.

Totally agree..the bass sounds like a machine. Dad played with Les on and off for decades and only started using a Guitar on the USO trip with Hope because of the logisitcs of hauling the big fiddle on airplanes. Back after WW2 and during the Korean war they would allot one seat on the airline DC4 DC6 for the Big bass. Ive got video of him hauling it up the portable stairway at Burbank on their way to Korea.

WOw, what a sound from Jo Ann Greer! So nice. I really find that bass distracting--it really needs to be an acoustic. During this time--1970's/80's, though, quite a few of the big bands did this--I never could figure out why. Thanks so much for the post!!!

The most elegant voice in the history of American Music. Imagine a late 50s Capitol album with Jo Ann Greer and arrangements by Nelson Riddle....I can dream, can't I? ;-) Thomas from Germany
